Riot’s champion reworks are usually a major hit or a devastating miss.
Sometimes you get Fiddlesticks, and sometimes you get Ryze, again.
I was a bit torn with Mundo’s rework as he lost some of his original charm – but received some major visual polish.
So since I’m vain, let’s look at all of the Mundo skins in their polished glory and determine which ones are the most worth getting.
10. Executioner Mundo
Released: June 17th, 2011
Price: 520 RP
This skin was definitely lost in the rework.
What was once the well esteemed kinky Mundo, is now just Mundo in some weird clothes.
The splash art is absolutely phenomenal, probably among the coolest in the game. But that only highlights the disappointment even more once you get in-game.
It’s not like it has nothing going for it though, as the hood is pretty cool, and the leather belts definitely hint towards this skin’s original design. But it is nowhere near as interesting as the other skins in Mundo’s arsenal.
For this reason, it will have to be in last place.
9. TPA Mundo
Released: May 23rd, 2013
Price: 750 RP
This one isn’t all that disappointing – but still pales in comparison to the others.
If you love watching eSports every year, then TPA Mundo will probably be a bit higher in your own ranking.
But if you’re not big into eSports then this skin is probably somewhat mediocre.
It’s just Mundo in a crop-top chucking trophies at people.
Plus the sound effect for hitting your Q isn’t as satisfying as it was in the original TPA skin. And the splash art just makes him look like an even bigger e-boy than he already was.
8. Toxic Dr. Mundo
Released: December 17th, 2009
Price: 520 RP
Let’s face it:
Mundo had a Hulk skin lined up before he was even released.
It’s a very simple and effective skin that just turns you green, adds some Zaun technology on top, and lets you live your smashing fantasies.
It doesn’t come with any new animations, but it doesn’t really need them either. So I can’t put it down as a demerit.
This is a pretty cool skin overall, if you don’t want to go too crazy or break your wallet changing Mundo’s entire appearance.
7. Mundo Mundo
Released: October 19th, 2010
Price: 975 RP
It truly is poetic that this skin feels the most “old Mundo” out of them all.
It’s just stupid, insane, and unapologetically goofy, presenting Mundo going to Halloween as Mundo.
He’s covered in cardboard, he’s prepped with mittens, and he even gave himself a fake face and some hair.
I also just love that his drawn on face gets slightly more crazy when he ults.
The only complaint I have with this skin is that the emotes feel extremely weird, with his face being covered and all that.
6. Mr. Mundoverse
Released: March 24th, 2010
Price: 520 RP
As a fellow gym bro, I love this skin.
It’s a simple character model redesign with no new animations or particles – and yet it hits different.
Not only is the splash art a pretty nice burn towards certain influencers, but the skin just works in-game.
Chucking dumbbells at people has never been this much fun. And thinking about his ult as either taking juice or pre-workout just adds some nice depth to it.
If I had to hone in on a single nitpick here, I would say that his E not being a protein shaker cup was a waste.
But overall a really fun and cheap skin.
5. El Macho Mundo
Released: June 1st, 2016
Price: 1350 RP
El Macho Mundo was rather difficult to place in this ranking, as it hit some really good points and some really questionable ones.
On the one hand, the animations are extremely well made.
The fact that he swaps weapons after using his Q, going from a hammer to a chair, and the fact that he goes Super Saiyan when he ults (and his passive being a little trophy) all feels amazing.
However, why is my dude redder than a lobster?
This wouldn’t usually be a problem. But it makes the skin look too similar to another choice, which makes it feel slightly less unique.
4. Frozen Prince Mundo
Released: December 6th, 2018
Price: 1350 RP
I know that a few people were pissed about this skin, as it features very few upgrades from the original.
However I do think it’s still a rather decent pick all things considered.
Mundo looks like he was ripped straight out of a Disney movie. And the character model is rather well-detailed.
I especially like how his ult doesn’t just rip everything off, but rather just the first layer, making the whole “crazy noble” trope seem a bit more believable.
His passive animation hits this note even further – and his backing animation just makes me feel like I’m about to regret killing Elsa.
3. Rageborn Mundo
Released: July 27th, 2012
Price: 975 RP
If you want raw badass energy, this is the perfect pick for you.
Rageborn Mundo really does a great job at making you feel like a raging orc who’s about to ransack some village.
Your weapon looks extremely threatening, your ability animations feature a fiery theme, and your backing animation has you fighting some magma monster.
Because why not.
It does feel a bit weird to still be carrying a satchel around instead of a shield for your E. But that’s just a minor nitpick.
All in all, this skin will give you an incredible bang for your buck, and you’ll feel like you could take down Manbearpig.
2. Pool Party Mundo
Released: June 25th, 2015
Price: 975 RP
Pool Party skins always manage to put a smile on my face – and this one is no different.
It’s just so chill and goofy, while also packing some serious visual and sound effects that it becomes hard not to give it a try.
Like with all Pool Party skins, all of the animations here have been revamped to feature watery effects, as well as other beach shenanigans.
In this case those shenanigans are seagulls in the distance when you use your W, and the persistent bonk of a ukulele when you smash it over someone’s head.
And don’t even get me started on the ult sound effect.
That’s just a tightly packed groove!
1. Corporate Mundo
Released: September 12th, 2010
Price: 1820 RP
This skin could have been priced at 5000 RP and it still would have won.
It is among the best skins in the entire game and it just makes Mundo’s character shine through.
This time around, Corporate Mundo will be throwing a briefcase at people while smacking minions away with his phone. And all of the animations will be followed up with a cha-ching.
The emotes are absolutely hilarious, and the million little added animations and effects just make the skin feel alive.
You go to lane in a tiny car and say “stonk” for God’s sake!
It does not get better than this.
